Download freesoftware for Microsoft Windows(and now some for Mac OSXand Linux) to control theatrical lighting. Some of this software is Open Source so it includes source code that allows you to modify it. My software works with the following DMX interface hardware (some only supports the Enttec Pro): Enttec OpenDMX USB interface(just $60). Emulation™ is a DMX 512 lighting controller for intelligent lights, LED, dimmers, lasers and various other effects. The program is platform-independent and available on Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows. The software is shipped with a USB-to-DMX adapter cable, compliant with the new DMX512-A standard. Key to the design of Emulation™ is its intuitive graphical user-interface.

Configuration
DMX USB devices should be automatically detected from QLC+ and displayed in the input/output panels list.
If for some reason the auto-detection fails, you can 'force' the type of your DMX USB adapter manually.
Click on the name of your device and open the configuration dialog by clicking onthe icon on the bottom-right side of the panel.
You will see a list of DMX USB devices currently connected to your computer. Each one has a drop down menuwhere you can force the device type.
Here's the meaning of each one:
- Open TX: Enttec USB DMX Open (and clones) in output mode
- Open RX: Generic FTDI devices receive mode
- Pro RX/TX: Enttec USB DMX Pro or most of the DMXKing devices
- Pro Mk2: Enttec USB DMX Pro Mk2 - 2 DMX outputs, 1 DMX input, 1 MIDI IN and 1 MIDI OUT ports are available
- Ultra Pro: DMXKing ultraDMX Pro with 2 outputs and 1 input
- DMX4ALL: DMX4ALL USB-DMX STAGE-PROFI MK2
- Vince Tx: Vince DMX512 USB in output mode
If your adapter is detected but doesn't produce any output, most likely you'll find the solutionin the Questions and Answers page (Question #3).Note 1: Eurolite USB-DMX512 Pro devices must be forced to the 'Pro RX/TX' mode to operate correctly.

: On Windows, Enttec open DMX clones might flicker at 44Hz. You can try and decrease the output frequency until the issue is resolved.Requirements
Linux
On all Linux distributions, you need to install libftdi. If you install QLC+ with the UbuntuSoftware Center or some other automatic installer tool, this library will be installedautomatically for you.
In some cases, if the device doesn't output anything, it might be useful to add your userto the 'dialout' group with the following command:
macOS
On Apple macOS, you don't need any drivers at all since QLC+ uses the macOS native USBinterface. Installing the D2XX drivers should cause no harm, but DO NOT INSTALL VCP (Virtual COM Port) drivers as they will definitely interferewith QLC+. If you have previously installed the VCP drivers, consult theFTDI installation guides on how to uninstall them.

Windows
On Microsoft Windows, the plugin needs the latest D2XX drivers from FTDI.Normally, when a FTDI device is plugged in for the first time, Windows will automatically download the D2XX drivers for you, so noaction is needed at all.
If that doesn't happen, please consult the FTDI installation guidesto know how to install the drivers.
DO NOT INSTALL VCP (Virtual COM Port) drivers as they will probably interfere with the D2XX interface.

If a mode is not listed here, it means it is not supported by QLC+ or the device itself because of hardware limitations,so please do not report them as issues in the QLC+ forum.

Tuning
Note: Manual tuning should never be performed except for some very particular cases. Use it at your own risk!
It is possible to change the DMX frame size for Enttec Open (and like) devices with ahidden settings key on each platform. The key tells QLC+ how many channels should be transmitted in each DMX frame, so for a DMX universe (by default 512).

dmxusbpro - DMX 512 external for Max
WARNING: The dmxusbpro external is 'end of life' and should not be used for new projects! It was originally developed for Max4.5 and never updated ever since.
The dmxusbpro external for Max gives access to the Enttec DMX USB Pro interface and allows to send or receive DMX 512 data. Thus its possible to use Max as lighting controller for theatre or interactive installations.

- user setable break and mark-after-break time
- update the firmware of the interface
- query available serial ports to find connected interfaces

Requirements:
The dmxusbpro external works with the 'USB DMX Pro' interface only! It also works with the 'DMX USB Pro Mk2' but will not support any of it's new features. There are no plans to add support for the new features of the Mk2 interface.
The 'Open DMX USB' interface is not supported by this external.
To run the Max version of the dmxusbpro external Max 4.5 or later on Mac OS X or Windows is required. Mac OS 9 and older versions of Max are not supported. A Univeral Binary for Intel Macs running Max 4.6 is available. There is a new version for Max5. However, the older versions also work in Max5.
Some people have reported it works in Max6 as well, others says it doesn't work in Max6. The same goes for Max7 and 8 (some report it works, others say it reboots their machine or fails to find the device, but usually people don't say which operating system this is on). Try the DEMO below to find out who is right. - And keep in mind there are no plans to update this external to 'work' with Max6, 7 or 8.
To make sure the external works for you please try the DEMO version before you buy! It offers the full functionality, but is limited to transmit and receive a maximum of two channels (channels 1 and 2, to be precise).

In order to use this external you need to install the VCP driver from the FTDI website. It will not work with the D2XX driver that is used with Enttec's PRO-Manager!
