Repair Turnaround Time is calculated on the average time from receipt until repair when parts are available. Specific turnaround times may vary based upon parts and labor availability.

Wood Stocks and Forends: If you require a forend only, please contact Midwest Gun Works regarding availability. If you require a stock or both, please contact Beretta USA. Stocks are replaced as a set to ensure proper wood match. Forends, which are less expensive, are typically matched to the stock, which is the best value for the customer.

Firearm Accuracy/Shotgun Patterning Evaluation: This service is performed only at Beretta USA in Accokeek, MD. The customer is responsible for shipping costs of the firearm to Beretta USA and will be quoted a $70 fee which covers testing, ammunition and return shipping charges. If the firearm is found to not meet factory specifications and is under factory warranty, the firearm will be corrected to meet specifications and the $70 fee will be waived. If your shotgun is not under warranty, we will contact you with a quotation for service. Almost of the shotguns that we receive for patterning evaluation are found to be within factory specifications and no corrective action is required. The same holds true for rifle and pistol accuracy evaluation. You can learn more about shotgun patterning here and pistol accuracy here.

Now you can check the status of your firearm sent to the Accokeek, MD Service Center on line. For other service centers, please contact the respective service center.

Instructions on how to send a firearm to a service center are located here.

I have the Tomcat Inox. My very favorite carry gun. The frame cracking issue can be avoided by not shooting ammo with a muzzle energy over 130 ft./lbs. (basically.32 ammo over 71 grain). My Tomcat is very accurate, super reliable, and fun to carry and shoot. If you own a Beretta Tomcat, open the tip-up barrel and inspect the frame rail above the trigger pivot hole for cracks, as shown in the photo. Beretta doesn't “repair or replace” these any more, nor do they warrant them for use with hand loads or ammunition which exceeds 130 ft.-lbs. Manufacturer's rating.

In states that require us to return a firearm via an in-state FFL, Beretta will not reimburse any fees associated with the transaction. We recommend that residents of NY, NJ, and CT ship their handguns for service via their local dealer. CT residents should ship long guns via their local dealer as well.

Beretta tomcat cracked frame fix liquid

A Magnum Opus on heavy loads for the .32 ACP < for use in suitably strong, STEEL framed guns> is being submitted soon for The Fouling Shot, but important safety information needs to get out now and not wait for publication!

Beretta Tomcat Cracked Frame Fix
  1. They are a bit fragile, being prone to frame cracking. My first one (an INOX) suffered a cracked frame after a few hundred rounds. Tip: the Tomcat is not rated for all 32 ACP ammo. Some of it is too hot (Fiocchi!). Beretta replaced the 1st one with a new one. They are fun guns. I tend to baby mine as they’re out of production, I believe.

  3. This was in 2007.No mentioning of a cracked frame. I loved the smallness of the gun for concealed carry. It was accurate. I keep records of the #of rounds I fire. After 136 rounds over the next 8 years the frame is cracked. I sent it back to Beretta to be repaired or send me an Inox Tomcat and I would pay them the cost over my black tomcat.

My advice is to severely limit loads producing over 130 ft.-lbs. to occasional/emergency use only in micro pistols like the Beretta Tomcat for two reasons:

1) because they may cause serious “slide bite” if you have meaty hands and don't use a Hogue Grip Sleeve, as I painfully found out. And

2) after prolonged firing, they are “frame crackers.”

Beretta Tomcat Cracked Frame Fix

My Beretta Model 3032 INOX Tomcat until recently had digested over 2000 rounds of hot Euro and heavy bullet hand loads before eventually failing.

If you choose to use “hot” loads in yours, then you are on “your own nickel.”

I will continue to use my Tomcat as a teaching tool to demonstrate the advantages of the tip-up barrel for women or elderly who have trouble racking the slide, but any shooting will be VERY limited from now on, with more sedate loads than my hand loaded “Buffalo Bore” approximations.

I still have no reservations firing the heavy .32 ACP loads in STEEL FRAME, standard sized guns such as the Colt M1903, Walther PP, Beretta M1935, CZ27, etc., replacing recoil springs with the heavier Wolff .380 ACP replacements where available.
